Studio Policies

SCHEDULE:

One lesson per week, following the Mesa Public School calendar (no lessons during October break, the week of Thanksgiving, winter break, President’s Day, or spring break.)  Length of lesson is determined on an individual basis, to ensure adequate instruction.  From time to time (such as during group lesson weeks or recital weeks), the normal lesson schedule will be changed in order to accommodate another scheduled activity as part of the yearly curriculum.

CHARGES:

Charges are figured by dividing the 38-week total tuition into nine equal payments, resulting in an identical charge for every month, regardless of the actual number of lessons in any one month.  (With the exception of August.)  Please note that it is your personal responsibility to send the check on or before the student’s first lesson of each month.  There will be a late charge of $10.00 per family applied any time the check arrives after the 7th of the month.

Returned Check Policy:  If the bank returns your check, you will be charged a $25.00 fee, and payment in cash will be expected for the rest of the year.

Lesson rates are as follows:

LESSON LENGTH MONTHLY PAYMENT
30 MINUTES $136.00
45 MINUTES $168.00
60 MINUTES $216.00

ABSENCE:

The progress of each student depends heavily on regular attendance at lessons.  The lesson time assigned to each student becomes your responsibility for the duration of the school year, as it is reserved for your specific use each week.  It is common courtesy to notify the teacher when a student is going to be absent.  When you can predict an absence, a switch with another student can usually be arranged.  Make up lessons will also be offered (for absences due to illness only) on the Monday of group lesson weeks.  It is your responsibility to make these arrangements.

PRACTICE:

The progress of each student depends upon productive practice, as well as regular lesson attendance.  I can teach to the best of my ability, but if the student does not practice conscientiously, we cannot make satisfactory progress.  Students are expected to practice a required amount of time each week and to keep their practice record.  It is also an asset to have someone sit and listen to the last five minutes of the student’s allotted practice time.  Practice time should be recorded daily in the student’s assignment notebook, with a parent initialing underneath before each lesson

TRAFFIC COURTESY:

Teaching five days a week, several hours a day, creates a lot of traffic in front of my home, which could become annoying to others living near me.  In order to protect the privilege of convenient piano lessons in private neighborhoods, please exercise these safe and courteous parking and driving habits.

  •  Park only in front of my home
  •  Never make a U-turn anywhere on my street;  go around the block or come in from the other direction
  •  If you need to turn around, turn around only in my driveway
  •  Never honk your horn
  •  Pick student up promptly at the end of his/her lesson
  •  Please relay this information if someone other than you will be transporting your child

LESSON COURTESY:

In order to obtain maximum use of lesson time, please have students observe the following:

  • Please use the restroom BEFORE coming to your lesson
  • Please do not bring gum, candy or food to your lessons
  • Please keep your fingernails cut short enough so they do not touch the keys of the piano
  • Please come with CLEAN HANDS
  • Please have books opened to the right pages and stacked in the correct order
